Bonnie Jean Dent, 64, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 3:02 a.m., Sunday, July 15th, 2018 while in the company of family members, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Bonnie was born in Marion, Kansas on April 7, 1954, a daughter of Margaret E. (Kaupf) and Joe Parker.
Bonnie attended the Roosevelt grade school, McPherson Park School, McPherson Junior High School and McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas. She later attended Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Bonnie was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked at Starlight Lanes as program coordinator and assistant manager.
Bonnie was a member and officer for the McPherson Women’s Bowling Association; Kansas Women’s Bowling Association; and was an Umpire for the USSSA. Bonnie enjoyed her family, was an avid Bowler for many years. Bonnie and Jamie were the first mother daughter doubles champions in the Women’s City Bowling Tournament and was an avid reader.
Bonnie was united in marriage to Dean Dent on February 1, 1974 at the Calvary Baptist Church, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of four daughters and a son, Marcie, Neilie, Jamie, Stacie and Matthew.
She is survived by her husband Dean Dent, of McPherson, Kansas; her children Marcie Dent, of Vinton Virginia, Neilie Elvin, of Wichita, Kansas, Jamie Dent, of Columbia, South Carolina, Stacie Dent, of McPherson, Kansas and Mathew Dent and his wife JoAnna, of Hesston, Kansas; her sister, Peggy Lane, of Hillsboro, Kansas; her brother Gary Parker and his wife Susie, of McPherson, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Kay Galloway.
A memorial service will be held at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18th, 2018 with Pastor Brandon Roth officiating.
A private family burial will be held at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas
