Nila Mae Charbonneau, age 92, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS. She was born on October 26, 1925 in Esbon, Kansas to Martin and Edith (Pittsenbarger) Johanek.
She was a 1943 graduate of Esbon High School. She then attended a Nurses training program in Concordia, where she received her RN Degree.
She married Norman Gerard Charbonneau in Esbon, Kansas by Fr. Barrins. Norman preceded her in death on December 31, 1994. Both have lived in Concordia since 1944.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Nila Mae enjoyed reading, playing cards and most of all spending time with her family. Nila Mae retired from St. Joseph Hospital where she worked for many years as a RN.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Charlotte Strait, Concordia, KS.; Cathy Wagoner (Jerry), Webber, KS.; 2 sons, Robert Charbonneau (Marcia), Kansas City, KS.; Gary Charbonneau (Lyndell), Webber, KS.; 3 sisters, Janice Fief Morell, Salina, KS.; Thelma Beam (Johnny), Esbon, KS.; Velma Gouldie (Jim), Mankato, KS.; 15 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren, 8 Great-GreatGrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, infant son, John Charbonneau, parents, Martin and Edith, 3 brothers, Ivan, Eldon, and Kenneth Johanek, son-in-law, Rex Strait.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, September 3, 2018 from 1 pm to 8 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, with a parish Vigil service at 6:00 p.m. the family will greet friends after the Vigil service.
