UPDATE: Arrests Made in Hodgeman County Murder Case

Authorities have arrested thee people from Colorado in connection with a murder in Western Kansas.

According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Larimer County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office, three arrests were made connected to the murder of Bayron O. Diaz-Bautista.

Diaz-Bautista was found dead in a field in Hodgeman County on Oct. 1. The preliminary autopsy report revealed Diaz-Bautista died from gunshot wounds.

Emilio Nunez-Bahena, 26, Veronica Nunez, 24, and Emilio Nunez-Torrez, 45, were arrested Saturday 6 at approximately 12:30 a.m. in Larimer County, Colorado.

The suspects are from Fort Collins. Each could face a charge of first-degree murder. They were booked into the Larimer County Jail without bond.

Extradition proceedings are expected.

ORIGINAL: The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Hodgeman County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after a body was found Monday night in a field in Hodgeman County.

At 10:09 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1 the Hodgeman County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an area farmer reporting that he had located a body in his field. Responding deputies located a deceased Hispanic male approximately three miles West of Hanston, Kan., and East of the intersection of NE 225 Rd. and N Rd.

The Sheriff’s Office requested KBI assistance at approximately 10:45 p.m. Monday night. KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded to investigate.

The deceased male has not yet been identified. An autopsy will be conducted. The case is being investigated as a homicide.

This investigation is ongoing. KBI said no further information will be released at this time.
