Mark S. Chaffee, 59, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, following a courageous 18-year battle with MS. He was born in Cozad, Neb., May 10, 1959, to Harold G. and W. Jean Chaffee.
Mark was a 1977 graduate of Wheatland High School, Grainfield, and attended Kansas Wesleyan University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. He began his career in electrical wholesale with American Electric and later worked for Stanion Electric in Salina, retiring in 2007 for health reasons. Mark loved being around people; he never met a stranger. A faithful Christian, Mark was a member of First Covenant Church, volunteered with many organizations, and sought to do good wherever he went. He loved spending time with family, was an avid golfer, and a die-hard Nebraska Husker fan.
Left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Barb, of the home; daughters, Megan Chaffee of Underwood, Iowa, and Sara Chaffee of Burbank, Calif.; father, Harold Chaffee (Fran) of Lincoln, Neb.; siblings, Connie Crowder of Denver, Kathy Kuehl (Al) of Oregon, Wisc., and Michael Chaffee (Michelle) of Lincoln, Neb., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, W. Jean; and maternal grandmother, Irene Kline.
Celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at First Covenant Church, 2625 E. Magnolia Road, Salina. Please join his family in dressing casually in your favorite team apparel, or wear something red. Private inurnment will be at Grainfield Cemetery, Grainfield.
