William “Bill” Edward Roth, 84, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 8th.
Bill was born in Holyrood, Kansas on November 7, 1934, a son of the late Hazel (Becker) and William Andrew Roth.
He worked as a soil scientist for the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service for 40 years. Throughout that time he provided service in Dodge City, Kinsley, Larned, and Salina. His work even took him to Parkersburg, West Virginia; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Washington D.C. His many years of service made him to be known as the “best soil scientist in Kansas.”
Bill married Deniece (Kohls) on September 2nd, 1956. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Amy Swann (Larry), of Charleston, West Virginia;
Sara Rowe (Merle), of Abilene; a son, Thomas Roth (Terri) of Clay Center; sisters, Shirley Colby of Melborne, Florida, Mary Jeffrey of Marion, and Elizabeth Adams of Newton; and a brother, Robert Roth of Great Bend.
He is also survived by grandchildren, William Swann, Tiana Roth, Nathaniel Rowe, Emilie Rowe, Travis Ray, and Macey Morgan; and great grandchildren Tailynn Roth, DJ Rowe, Garrett Ray, Ryan Ray, Tyler Ray.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Donna Roth.
Visitation will be at 9:00 AM, Monday, November 12, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 743 E. Magnolia Road, Salina.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 12, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Strommen officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service, and his final resting place will be Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery in Ellsworth, Kansas. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice or Lutheran Hour Ministries, sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio Street, Salina, Kansas.
