Barbara Sue “Barb” Geist, 63, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away at 7:50 p.m., Saturday, November 10th, 2018 while in the company of family members, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita, Kansas.
Barbara was born in McPherson, Kansas on July 31, 1955, a daughter of Erlene Mildred (Friesen) and Daniel Jacob Borth.
Barb attended Santa Fe grade school, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1973.
She was a member of Cross Point Church Hutchinson, Kansas.
Barb was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked for the City of McPherson as a office manager for the Public Works and Engineering Department for 13 years; was a Project and Conference Planner in Orlando, Florida, assisting in Worldwide International Engineering Conferences, Research and Product Development, and Assistant to the Sr. Vice President for Tupperware Worldwide Corporate Offices in Orlando, Florida where she was employed for 14 years.
Barb enjoyed, painting, serving others and was hostess and cook and spending time with her family. Barb originated and was the Lead Facilitator for the Breast Cancer Ministry, Health and Healing Ministries at First Orlando Church.
Barbara Sue Borth was united in marriage to Harold Staedtler on June 12, 1976 McPherson, Kansas. They established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, one daughter and one son. Barbara Staedtler was united in marriage to Larry W. Geist on July 17, 1993 at McPherson, Kansas. They established their first home in McPherson. in 1999 the couple moved to Orlando, Florida until 2015 when they moved to Hutchinson, Kansas.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 25 years, Larry Geist, of Hutchinson, Kansas; her children, Hayley Balding and husband Adam Balding, of Raleigh North Carolina and Luc Staedtler and wife Bergin, of Inman, Kansas; her siblings and in laws, Susann Borth, of Kamloops, British Columbia, Carol Tarrell, of Orlando, Florida, Mary Schultz and husband James, of Springfield, Missouri, Michael Borth and wife Doris, of Houston, Texas, and Anne Shimskey and husband Frank, of Boone, North Carolina; her 4 grandchildren, Taytren Staedtler, Phoebe Staedtler, Tanner Staedtler, and Atticus Balding; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Erlene Borth; brother, Clark Borth and sister, Judy Lutz.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
Funeral service will be held at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16th, 2018 with Pastor Andy Addis officiating.
Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.
