Antonia “Tonie” Martinez, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 2:56 a.m., Monday, November 19th 2018 peacefully, at Brookdale McPherson.

Tonie was born in Little River, Kansas on November 7, 1926, a daughter of Placida (Gomez) and Gregorio Martinez.

Tonie attended the Little River grade school and graduated from Little River High School, Little River, Kansas. She then attended and graduated from Chicago School of Practical Nursing, Chicago, Illinois and attended Adela Hale Business School, Hutchinson, Kansas.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church McPherson, where she was a member of the Altar Society.

Through the years, Tonie worked at Hoffman Memorial Hospital, Little River, Kansas as a LPN, worked as a clerk for General Dynamics at the missile site East of Mitchell, Kansas and Farmers Alliance Insurance Company as a supervisor until her retirement in 1993.

Tonie enjoyed traveling, eating out, playing cards, shopping, and spending time with family and extended family get togethers especially those at the lake.

She is survived by her siblings, Acensia Martinez, of McPherson, Kansas, Patrosinia Oltmanns and husband John, of Wichita, Kansas, and John Martinez and wife Diane, of McPherson, Kansas; 6 nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Tonie was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Placida Martinez; her sister, Sister Patricia Martinez OP.

Friends are invited to call Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas. The Rosary Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday with A Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. all at St. Joseph’s.

Burial will be held at the Bean Cemetery Little River, Ks.
