Sylvester Bernard “Bernie” Mason, Jr., 76, died December 13, 2018. Bernie was born April 8, 1942 in Salina, the son of Sylvester and Lois (Founeal) Mason. He worked for the Salina Fire Dept. after High School graduation until volunteering for the Marine Corps in 1963. He served 3 tours in Vietnam before being discharged in 1966. He returned to the Fire Dept and went back to school to earn a degree in accounting. He worked for NCRA in McPherson before being employed at the Salina Postal Service for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie; and two children, Jodi (Rod) Eisenhauer, Olathe and Bryan (Shelly) Mason, Cheney. He has grandchildren; Logan, Landon and Lauren Mason and Olivia and Millie Eisenhauer and a bonus granddaughter, Jailyn Adolph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Monday morning, Dec. 17, 2018 at St. Mary’s Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. Burial will be in the All Saints Cemetery, Salina. Vigil services will be at 7:00 pm Sunday evening at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Memorials are suggested to Salina VFW Post 1432, Sacred Heart High School or the Saline County Humane Society.
