Salina Firefighters rescued three teens who fell through ice and became stuck in a muddy pond Sunday afternoon.
Salina Fire Department Battalion Chief David Turner told KSAL News at the scene the three teens were on the ice at the pond at Indian Rock Park. All three fell through the ice into the water. Though it was only about waist deep, they became trapped in the ice and mud and couldn’t get out.
Firefighters responded, entered the water, and were able to pull all three to safety.
One of the three had an injured ankle. Firefighters carried her up the hill to a waiting ambulance.
Turner said two of the three were transported to Salina Regional Health Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
