A felon in possession of a handgun is facing numerous charges for domestic battery after a violent struggle that took place in a central Salina home.
Police Detective Sergeant David Villanueva tells KSAL News that 28-year-old Andre Satterfield was taken into custody after officers found him hiding in the attic of a home in the 600 block of S. 5th Street on Thursday evening.
Police were sent there just before 11pm after a neighbor heard the sound of a fight escalating between Satterfield and a 22-year-old woman.
The witness told police he saw the man hit the woman in the head while she was holding a baby.
Officers found the interior of the home in disarray with a broken TV and microwave thrown down. Police also found a handgun in the residence before arresting Satterfield for domestic battery and criminal damage to property.
Satterfield’s prior arrest for felony possession of a narcotic makes it a felony charge for possession of a weapon. The 22-year-old woman declined medical attention at the scene.
