Tax Assistance Volunteer Preparers Needed

The Salina Area United Way is seeking volunteers for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, VITA, program. Volunteers will serve as Tax Preparers and Quality Reviewers. A participant shares that volunteers helped me find a deduction that gave me a nice refund.

VITA Volunteer Information Meeting will be Wednesday, February 6, noon at the VITA Program Office, 145B S. Santa Fe.

VITA volunteers help individuals and families apply for Earned Income Tax Credits and other eligible tax credits. The program serves Saline County and the surrounding area.

Be one of 40 volunteers to meet the need assisting people with low-to-moderate incomes.

— Volunteers achieve IRS Certification with in-person support at the VITA site

No prior tax preparation or accounting experience requirements.
Training and certification are on basic income tax law for federal and state returns. Materials for self-study are online. Individuals receive IRS Certification appropriate for the volunteer positions. Volunteers achieve certification through online testing.

The program brings a substantial amount of money back into Saline County and surrounding communities. Trained VITA volunteers identify tax credits when assisting with returns. Make a difference both for individual citizens as well as the community. Volunteer with the VITA program!
