William “Bill” David Hover, 84, passed away February 7th, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Marysville, Kansas on February 5th 1935 to the late David Delane Hover and Bessie Beulah (Henderson) Hover. He was the youngest of five children.
Bill enlisted in the Naval Reserve and in 1956 he joined the United States Air Force where he spent 8 years. After honorable discharge, he finished his college studies at Emporia State University. He received a Bachelor’s Degree and two Master’s Degrees in Education and Library Science. Bill moved to Fruita, Colorado and taught for one year and then returned back to Kansas where he went on to teach for 30 years at USD 305.
In 1972 he married Audry Ann Mead. They celebrated their 46 year anniversary last August. They have one daughter, Misty Ann (Anderson) James, and two grandchildren, Gabriel and Ava Anderson.
Bill loved so many things in life, he was an active member of the NRA and loved hunting and trap shooting. He also had a love for fishing, reading, sports, camping, traveling, playing cards, eating at McDonalds, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by by sisters, Mary Jane Nieman and Sarah Newton; and two brothers who were stillborn.
Visitation will be Monday, February 11th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
Funeral service will be Tueday, February 12th at 10:30 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene at 1425 S. Ohio Street, Salina, with Jeff Ensz officiating.
Burial will follow at 3:00 PM on Tuesday at Marysville City Cemetery, Marysville, Kansas.
