The top rated girl’s basketball team in Kansas rolled into the Salina South High School gymnasium Monday night and showed why they are the best. Behind All-American senior Kennedy Brown the Derby Panthers defeated the Salina South Cougars 53 – 18.
Derby scored the first 19 points of the game and never looked back. The Panthers lead at the half 32 -5 enroute to their 35 point margin of victory.
Brown lead all scorers with 14 points.
The Cougars ended the game on a positive note, outscoring Derby 8 -5 in the fourth quarter. Victoria Maxton and Jadyn Zamecnik lead South in scoring, each chipping in five points.
Derby remains undefeated on the season at 16 – 0. South falls to 5 -11.
The Cougars are back in action Tuesday night, on the road with the boys at Goddard Eisenhower.
