Wanda Kay Waggoner, 79, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 9:20 p.m., Thursday, March 21st, 2019 while in the company of her husband, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Ks.
Wanda was born in Lyons, Kansas on January 11, 1940, a daughter of Hazel (Smith) and Frank Donnelly.
Wanda attended the Lyons grade school, Lyons Junior High and graduated from Lyons High School, Lyons, Kansas in 1958.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church McPherson, KS.
Wanda was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked for H and R Block as a tax preparer, a proof reader for the McPherson Sentinel, was a tax preparer for Carol Winslow Public Accountant, and then for the Memorial Hospital, McPherson, Kansas as a PBX Operator and later in Admissions, from which she retired.
Wanda was a member of the EHU which later changed to FCE in Lyons and the Happy Homemakers FCE in McPherson. Wanda enjoyed her family, sewing, trying new recipes, and keeping up with technology.
Wanda Kay Donnelly was united in marriage to Royal Glenn Waggoner on June 7, 1958 at the First Christian Church, Lyons, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in rural Lyons, Kansas for 6 months before moving into town at Lyons. In 1963 the family moved to McPherson.
She is survived by her devoted husband of over 60 years, Glenn Waggoner, of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Glenda Newkirk and husband Kevin, of Manhattan, Kansas, Gary Waggoner and wife Chenn, of Olathe, Kansas, and Roy Waggoner and wife Monique, of Fort Worth, Texas; her three grandchildren, Erin Waggoner-St. John and husband Clint, Andy Newkirk and wife Sarah and Jacob Newkirk; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Frank Donnelly; and her sisters, Jean Rolfs and Faye Murray.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to service time on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, Kansas.
Celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Ken Busse officiating.
The final resting place and inurnment will be at the McPherson Cemetery Mausoleum Building.
