A judge convinces a Salina man and woman accused in a child abuse death to speak with a court-appointed attorney.
27-year-old Nicholas Jordan Corbin and 20-year-old Desirah Nichole Overturf are both facing charges that include first degree murder and child abuse.
Officials tell KSAL News that appearing in court via a video feed Tuesday morning, both indicated to Judge Patrick Thompson that they did not have an attorney, nor did they want a court-appointed attorney. Corbin indicated that he was possibly ready to plead guilty.
Thompson ultimately appointed attorneys for both.
Both are being held in the Saline County Jail on a $1 million bond.
The case stems from the death last Thursday of Corbin and Overturf’s 3-month-old son Jordan.
