CHICAGO — This time, the Royals’ bullpen held on.

Royals third baseman Hunter Dozier drilled a 2-0 sinker from Nate Jones over the left-field fence leading off the 10th inning and the Royals went on to a 4-3 victory over the White Sox on Wednesday.

The game featured a benches-clearing fracas and several ejections in the sixth inning.

The Royals’ bullpen, which has struggled all season, held the White Sox to one run over five innings. Wily Peralta got the win and Scott Barlow got his first career save.

“Any time you get your first big league save, it’s special,” Barlow said. “It’s definitely cool to go out and do your part.”

Royals manager Ned Yost, who has answered questions all season about bullpen failures, was relieved to talk about some bullpen success for a change.

“Great job by the bullpen,” Yost said. “They came in some tough situations and really came through. I think we had to try to do anything we could to win the ballgame and extend guys out. That’s the first time Wily has gone two innings this year. First save for Barlow. Just a great job.”

Dozier’s RBI single in the seventh broke a 2-2 tie.

Dozier also won Sunday’s game with a walk-off single and is emerging as a clutch hitter.

“Well, I’ve certainly failed enough in those situations,” Dozier said, “so it’s nice to start coming through.”

Royals right-hander Brad Keller gave up a two-run home run to Tim Anderson in the fourth on a 3-2 sinker. Anderson turned and threw his bat toward his dugout in celebration.

The next time Anderson came up, Keller plunked him in the rear. Anderson was restrained by catcher Martin Maldonado as both benches and bullpens rushed to the field.

After everything settled down, Anderson and Keller were ejected, as were White Sox manager Rick Renteria and Royals bench coach Dale Sveum.

Alex Gordon’s two-run single in the fifth inning tied the score at 2.
