Motorists are being reminded to be wary of road conditions around the county with the excess rainfall over the last few days.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office tells KSAL News that parts of K-4 Highway in southeast Saline County are closed to through traffic. K-4 Highway from the intersection with Old 81 Highway, eastbound to the intersection with Tinkler Rd.-just south of the city of Gypsum-are closed to through traffic.
Deputies say that while no other roads are currently closed in Saline County, there are few problem spots on State St. with water at or near the roadway. Also, while K-140 Highway remains open, the water on the side of the roadway is only a few inches from the road in some areas.
Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander is reminding motorists to abide by the “Road Closed When Wet” signs. He says deputies will be on the look out over the next few days and will be giving tickets to violators.
