Funeral services for Emy Lou Peterson, age 92, of Abilene, Formerly of Salina will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with Reverend Gordon McClure officiating. Mrs. Peterson passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Memorial Hospital in Abilene.
She was born February 3, 1927 in Osborne, Kansas the daughter of Lester and Emma (Nunn) Burkholder. Emy Lou had been a longtime Salina resident graduating from Salina High School.
Emy Lou was an active member of the Salina Bible Church, enjoyed cooking, doing arts and crafts and loved being a part of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
On August 7, 1947 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Peterson. They had two children, a son Kenneth Lynn Peterson of Abilene, and daughter Carolyn Sue Gregg and her husband Reggie of Adrian, Missouri; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lowell Burkholder and her sister Caryl Tucker.
The family has selected cremation and a private family graveside service will take place at a later date. Emy Lou’s family will receive friend from 1:15 p.m. until service time at the funeral home on Friday.
