Rev. William Elwood “Bill” Buschbom, 70, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 11:25 a.m., Friday, June 28th, in the company of his family, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Bill was born in Denver, Colorado on January 1, 1949, a son of Maria (Stegemann) and Elwood William Buschbom.
Bill attended Emmaus Lutheran and Faith Lutheran grade schools, and graduated from North High School, Denver, Colorado in 1966. He then attended and graduated from Concordia Lutheran College, St. Paul Minnesota, attended and graduated from Concordia Senior College at Fort Wayne Indiana, attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis Missouri, and graduated from Seminex under the auspices of the Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago, Illinois.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church Lindsborg, Kansas.
Bill was a Pastor for Lutheran Churches in Woodside, New York; Delhi, New York; Rock Port, Missouri; Assaria, Kansas; Alliance, Nebraska; and served as Chaplain for Bethany Home, Lindsborg, Kansas until his retirement.
Bill served the communities he lived in working on service-oriented boards and organizations and enjoyed getting involved with people. He enjoyed stamp collecting, hunting, fishing, golfing, being outdoors, vegetable gardening, and his favorite activity was spending time with his grandkids and all their activities.
William Elwood “Bill” Buschbom was united in marriage to Alice Mae Prothe on January 14, 1972 at Hope Lutheran Church, Granite City, Illinois. The young couple established their first home together in St. Louis, Missouri. This union was blessed with the birth of two children a daughter and a son, Jennifer and Jason.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 47 years, Alice Buschbom, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Jennifer Kinnaird and husband Brian, of Paynesville, Ohio and Jason Buschbom and his wife Trish, of McPherson, Kansas; his six grandchildren, Caylee Richardson, Cami Richardson, Celbi Richardson, Cason Richardson, Ella Buschbom and Andi Buschbom; his 2 step-grandchildren, Wes Kinnaird and Layna Kinnaird; other relatives and a host of friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, Kansas.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, KS, with Reverend James Strassen and Chaplain Phil Hett officiating.
Burial will be at the Assaria Cemetery, Assaria, Kansas.
