Gleneice Euleen Ediger, 87, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 12:39 p.m., Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019 while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital.
Gleneice was born in Canton, Kansas on October 4, 1931, the daughter of Glenn Howard and Evelyn Berneice (Merrick) Powers.
Gleneice attended Canton Elementary School and graduated from Canton High School, Canton, Kansas in 1949.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Through the years Gleneice worked as a telephone operator, McPherson, Kansas, a custodian for the First Baptist Church, McPherson, Kansas, and was a Claims Processor for US Consolidated Farm Services Agency, McPherson, Kansas.
Gleneice was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and NARFE.
Gleneice enjoyed quilting, cooking and baking, and spending time with her grand kids and family.
Gleneice E. Powers was united in marriage to Virgil Jean Ediger on January 26, 1951 at the First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a daughter, Lori, and a son, James.
She is survived by her children, Lori McMurray and her husband Mike, of McPherson, Kansas and James Ediger, of Omaha, Nebraska; her brother, Michael Powers and his wife Janice, of Warrensburg, Missouri and sister-in-law Genevieve Powers, of Park City, Kansas. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Derek McMurray and his wife Mary Shannon, and Katie Anderson and her husband Travis; 6 great-grandchildren, Sierra Anderson, Cora Anderson, Blake Anderson, Abbigail Anderson, Garrett McMurray, and Elliot McMurray; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Virgil Ediger; her brother Richard Powers, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Ediger.
A memorial service will be held October 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, KS, with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be held at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
