Venita Loraine Patchin

Venita Loraine Patchin, 97, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 4:35 p.m., Tuesday, October 29th 2019 peacefully, at McPherson Hospital.

Venita was born on her parents farm near Moundridge, Kansas, on March 9, 1922, a daughter of Ida (Kaufman) and Peter Phillip Krehbiel.

Venita attended the Centennial Country School and graduated from Moundridge High School, Moundridge, Kansas in 1939. She then attended and graduated from Bethel College, Newton, Kansas in 1947 with a BA in Education and Music.

She was a member of Eden Mennonite Church Moundridge, Kansas.

Venita was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She was also a school and music teacher having taught in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Colorado.

Venita was a member of the Kansas, Arkansas, and Nebraska Teachers Associations. She loved to play the piano and was very creative and liked to make all kinds of things out of all kinds of materials.

Venita Loraine Krehbiel was united in marriage to George Lucin Flasschoen on June 16, 1948 at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge, Kansas. Venita Krehbiel was united in marriage to Marvin Patchin in 1960 in Oklahoma.

She is survived by her children, Jacques Flasschoen and wife Heide, of Pleasanton, Texas, Janice Peters and her husband Kenneth, of Daytona Beach, Florida, Janine Flasschoen, of New York, New York, and Jerome Flasschoen and wife Ann, of Meltone, California; her sister, Marlene Bottorff, of Joplin, Missouri; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her guardian Pat Gatz of McPherson, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends.

Venita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marvin Patchin in 1984; brother, Howard Krehbiel; and son Jerrell Flasschoen.

Graveside service will be held at Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery, Moundridge, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9th, 2019 with Pastor H. Dick Reynolds officiating.
