Lawrence “Larry” A. Beil Jr., 95, passed away Jan. 5, 2020, at Smoky Hill Health and Rehabilitation in Salina. He was born in Salina, Feb. 8, 1924, to Lawrence F. Beil and Nancy R. (Anderson) Beil. He married Elizabeth “Betty Jo” Dunn, Sept. 12, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. She passed away in 2011. He married Ardis Jensen, June 15, 2014.
He graduated from Salina High School, Class of 1943. He served in the Navy during World War II. Larry worked for Larson Lumber Company, Frisbie Construction, Michaelsen Lumber Company, and Planters State Bank (later Bank IV), retiring from Bank IV in 1988, after 23 years in banking.
Larry was very active in the Salina Downtown Lions Club, Salina Elks, ISIS Shrine, Shrine Patrol, Salina Home Builders Association, and Salina Crime Stoppers. Larry enjoyed dancing with the Jolly Mixers, traveling, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends. Larry was a very kind and loving husband and father and was loved and respected by all.
Survivors include: his wife, Ardis; sons, Steven R. Beil of New Orleans, La., and Lawrence “Larry” F. Beil II (Hedy) of Overland Park; sister, Fayetta Hart (Bob) of Bella Vista, Ark.; grandchildren, Lindsey S. Wannamaker (J.J.), Lisa A. Erisman (Gary), and Lacy L. Mahlandt (Andy), all of Overland Park; five great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Marilyn Schneider (John), Ron Jensen (Shelly), and Arlisa Robertson. Larry was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Helen Graves and Virginia Brookhouser; and his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth Street, Salina, with family receiving friends from 5-7.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the Ray Avenue Baptist Church, 2801 Ray Avenue, Salina, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Park after the service.
Memorials may be made to the ISIS Shrine, Salina Downtown Lions Club, Ray Avenue Baptist Church, or St. John’s Lutheran Church, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
