Peggy Medina

Peggy Medina passed away Jan. 13, 2020. Peggy, born Nov. 14, 1957 at St. Johns Hospital in Salina, was a nonconformist who regularly challenged the status quo with humor and optimism.

Her compassion for others and intense dedication led her to fill many roles. She graduated from Central High School, Class of ’75. For years, she was the office manager and accountant for the family construction business. Peg then ran a booming scrapbooking business before graduating Summa Cum Laude from Kansas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art. She owned and operated Artspring Art Gallery for several years that featured not only her work but artists from all over the state and beyond.

She completed advanced training in the Healing Touch for Animals program. An animal lover to the core, Peg adopted, fostered, and loudly advocated for rescued Corgis. A selfless mentor, she volunteered as a big sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina. An avid reader and student, she continuously challenged herself in mind, body, and spirit. She was an amazing and acknowledged artist, hand building clay sculptures, assemblages and the occasional painting, drawings and writing. Her work was displayed in galleries all over Kansas. She found comfort and strength through her yoga practice.

She and Bill were soul mates together for almost 45 years. Together they had two sons, Dustin and Dylan, many doggies, cats, and a bird.

Surviving are Bill, Dustin and wife Paige, Dylan and partner Cheyenne, Dogs Scooter, Vespa, and Beamer; Her Mom and Dad Mitzie and Jim Lewis, brother, Rick Lewis and his wife Roz, a nephew, Phil Lewis and his wife Kristi and their kids James and Cora; niece, Melissa Lewis Gardner and her kids Oscar and Carson, and other extended family and she was a God Mother to Alexa Scott.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020 in the chapel at the Webster Conference Center, north ninth street and I-70, Salina.

In lieu of cards or flowers Peggy would smile from the cosmos if you would like to support Corgi Connection of Kansas and or A Work in Progress Yoga Studio.
