John Kingsley Weber, 92 of Salina, KS passed away at Eaglecrest Retirement Community on January 1, 2020. John was born August 26, 1927 in Salina to John William and Ida Virginia Weber.
John graduated from Salina High School in 1945 and then enlisted in the Navy on June 11, 1946. He served two years in the Navy unit in the Pacific during World War II. He finished as a Second Lieutenant in the armed services on September 22, 1953. He attended Kansas Wesleyan University, Kansas University and Wichita State. He finished with a degree from Kansas Wesleyan. In 1953 he married Marilyn L. Peters in Ft. Benning, GA where he was stationed.
They returned to Salina and for 25+ years he was a Grain Merchandiser for Smoot Grain Company. John and Marilyn traveled extensively in their retirement and spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona, but always maintained their residence in Salina. They both loved to take their nieces and nephews on some of their travel excursions.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother James C. Weber and his wife Marilyn. Survivors include his sister-in-law Margaret Weber, brother-in-law Allan Peters and his wife Nancy. He is also survived by three nephews, Kurt Weber, John Weber and Eric Peters as well as five nieces, Jennifer Weber, Stefanie Gardner, Julie Baxes, Karen Stafford and Laura Clancy.
An informal celebration of life will be held at Eaglecrest Retirement Community, 1501 E. Magnolia Rd, Salina, KS 67401, on January 25, 2020 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. His final resting place is at Roselawn Memorial. In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be made to Salina YMCA.
