Marlene Joyce Clements, 85, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 10:15 a.m., Monday, June 15th, 2020 while in the company of family members at the Cedars.
Marlene was born in Wichita, Kansas on December 26, 1934, a daughter of Henry Gail “Red” and Maudie Etta (DePee) Mountz-Morley.
Marlene attended the Lincoln and Washington grade schools, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1952. She then attended Business School in Wichita, Kansas and Hutchinson Junior Community College, Hutchinson, Kansas.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson where she faithfully served her church in several capacities through the years.
Marlene was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for Tucker Firestone, as a dental assistant for Dr. Smith, worked as a Bookkeeper for Certain-Teed Corporation and then as an Office Manager, Secretary and Treasurer for American Maplan until she retired in 1999.
Marlene was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary.
Marlene enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, auctions, casino’s and spending time with her friends and family.
Marlene was united in marriage to Danny R. Lockwood in 1954 at the Church of God in McPherson, Kansas. Marlene was united in marriage to Pliny John “Tony” Clements on March 7, 1961 at Las Vegas, Nevada. They established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas.
She is survived by her children, Brad Lockwood and his wife Ann, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Cary Lockwood, of Carrollton, Texas, Tracy Clements and his wife Toya, of Wichita, Kansas and Toni Brauer and her husband Richard, of McPherson, Kansas; She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Lockwood, Jennifer Lockwood, Delaney Lockwood, Melissa Clouatre (Joe), Trenton Clements, Marci Clements, William “Bil” Brauer, Joshua Kaufman (Lauren), Jessica Dirks (Justin) and 7 great-grandchildren, Veronica, Madelyn, Makenna, Taylor, Adrian, Kathryn, Jeremiah and Eryn; her niece Lori Krause; brother-in-law , Guy Clements (Frances) and other relatives, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands and her sister, Janet Sue “Jan” Chapman.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas, with Reverend Tin Leaf officiating.
