Phyllis J. Cooper, 97, of Inman, KS, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, August 13th, 2020 peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Kansas.
Phyllis was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 2, 1923, a daughter of Rhoda Maco (Seward) and Carl William Hagel.
Phyllis attended the Wichita area schools and graduated from North High School, Wichita, Kansas. She then attended and graduated from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas with her Master’s Degree. She also attended Indiana State University, Lafayette, Indiana.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Hutchinson, Kansas.
Phyllis taught for two years at Marion High School, Marion, Kansas, for two years at Raton High School, Raton, New Mexico. She also taught classes at Ball State University, Munsey, Indiana and at Indiana State University in Lafayette, Indiana. She was the Executive Director for Girl Scout Councils in Indiana and later Colorado where she received with special permission the Thanks Badge, the highest award in Girl Scouts.
She was a Special Loaned Executive to the National Organization and was one of twenty called to be a National Special Trainer for the 1960 Girl Scout Change.
She is survived by her second cousin Philip Bradbury, of Saint George, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her parents
