Police Say School Gun Rumor Untrue

Salina Police say a rumor that began Friday morning about guns and ammunition being found in a locker, or in a locker room, at Salina Central High School is not true.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney says that no weapons or ammunition were found at the the school. He says no new information has been received about the incident.

Security is increased at Salina Central High School for the second day in a row. On Tuesday a note was found by a school staff member at Central. The note gave a vague description that there will be violence committed in the school. The next day, a cell phone was found in one of the school offices that appeared to have been shot with a firearm.

In response, the school increased security Thursday, and again Friday. There is an increased police presence, school walk-throughs, and officials were monitoring access to the building.

If caught the person, or persons, responsible for the note could face a felony charge of making criminal threats.
