David Michael Gibbs, 66, of Salina, KS passed away at his home October 9th, 2020. Mike, as he was best known, was born on July 23, 1954 to Roy Alexander Gibbs, Sr and Emily Lorraine Selby-Gibbs in Sedalia, MO. On May 9th, 1980 he married Kimberly Wilson and they had just celebrated forty years of marriage.
Mike had been employed with Airgas USA, LLC for thirty-two years and was the Director of DOT Compliance for the company’s Central Division. Mike’s dedication to the company and his peers was evident to all. His contributions to the compressed gas industry will be missed, but his legacy will live on.
Mike is preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister, Mary Lou Lemon. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Kim Gibbs of the home. One sister and brother in law, Joan and Cliff Karvinen, of Bonita Springs, Florida and one brother Roy Gibbs. He also had one niece, Tracy Karvinen and her spouse, Courtney Hupp; two nephews, Brain Karvinen and his wife Dee, and Glen Lemon.
Mike had many close friends who became adopted family; Bill Travis and fiancé Katrina Sheffield and their children, Ashton, Colin, Jordan and Abigail all of Salina. Donna Gaulding, her husband Dennis and their children Avery, Alivia and Addie of Coweta, OK. Mike also leaves behind numerous close friends and his entire Airgas family where he spent most of his time.
At his request, no service will be held, and his ashes will be spread at a later date. Mike was known for his generous and kind nature to all of those around him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Mike’s name.
