Lorina C. Knoll, 96, passed away in the COVID-19 unit at Salina Regional Health Center on Sunday, October 18, 2020. She was born November 10, 1923 in Graham County, KS to Joseph Peter and Anna Rose (Brungardt) Knoll.
Lorina was a 1941 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Salina, received her B.A. degree in 1945 from Marymount College and earned her master’s degree from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, KS in 1962.
She taught school from 1945 – 1951 then took a civil service job with the federal government from 1951 – 1954. She went back to teaching in 1954. She taught in Grainfield, Victoria, Winfield and finally Heusner School in Salina until retirement in 1986.
Lorina enjoyed traveling, and was a political activist for voter registration and equal rights amendments. She also was a volunteer for the Army USO. Lorina lived her last 15 years at Dignity Care Home where she received wonderful care.
She will be missed by many nieces and nephews including her care givers Ellen Farrar of Ohio and Tom Prochazka and wife Patty of Solomon.
She was preceded in death by sibling twins, brother, Edwin Knoll, sisters, Helen Prochazka, Alfrieda Gilbert, and Mary Ann Dungan.
A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina.
