Roberta (Bobbie) Jeanne Dreese passed away peacefully on December 7, 2020. She was born on December 29, 1925 in Hot Springs, South Dakota, the daughter of Harry L. Bohnstedt and Pearl (Smith) Bohnstedt.
Bobbie graduated from Custer South Dakota High School in 1943. Following her graduation, she joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps and received a Registered Nurse’s degree from Seattle’s Virginia Mason Hospital in 1945. Next, she worked at the Oregon State Psychiatric Hospital in
Salem, Oregon both as a psychiatric nurse and as a student nursing instructor. Later, in 1957, Bobbie served as Assistant Director of Nursing at the Topeka State Hospital until 1960 when she became a fulltime mother of her children.
Bobbie married William Dreese on September 19, 1953, in Salem, Oregon. They were married for 67 years.
She was a member of Salina’s First United Methodist Church and was on the Salina Girl Scout Board. Bobbie also worked as a volunteer at the Salina Regional Hospital and coordinated the nursing services at the Park where the Dreese’s spent 27 years at their winter home in Pharr, Texas. Bobbie’s favorite activities were family gatherings, arts and crafts, studying archeological history and traveling.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Bohnstedt. She is survived by her husband, Bill: and 4 children; son, Ben, Salina; and three daughters, Nancy Lovseth and Diane Geisen (Al) both of Salina, and Jean Adamson (Tom) of Solomon. There are 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Ryan Mortuary from 3 until 7 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2020, where the family will receive friends from 3 until 5 pm. Masks and social distancing are required.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, Salina.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salina’s First United Methodist Church or the Salina Animal Shelter in care of Ryan Mortuary. Graveside services will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery in Council Grove, KS. at a later time. Friends are invited to offer notes of remembrance and condolences at www.ryanmortuary.com.
