Virginia L. Patrick, 80, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 12:29 p.m., Saturday, January 16th, 2021 while in the company of family members, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas.
Virginia was born in rural Falun, Kansas on July 2, 1940, a daughter of Pearl Cecelia (Rupert) and Arthur Rudolph Peterson.
Virginia attended White Rose Rural School, rural Falun, Kansas, Lindsborg grade school, and graduated from Lindsborg High School, Lindsborg, Kansas.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church Lindsborg, where she was Baptized, she was confirmed at Freemont Lutheran Church, and was married at Bethany Lutheran.
Virginia Lee Peterson was united in marriage to Arlen Gene Patrick on July 28, 1962 at Bethany Lutheran Church of Lindsborg, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Daryl and Dale.
Virginia was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years she worked Bachmans Ice Cream, Strahan Laundry, the original Chuck Wagon Restaurant all of Lindsborg, Kansas, Kings Drug Store, Johnson Cleaners, T&A Oriental Gift Store, and the Cedars Health Care Center all of McPherson.
Virginia was a life member of McPherson Hospital Auxiliary, a life member of the Kansas Farm Bureau Organization, a member of the McPherson Elk’s Ladies Auxiliary where she served as Vice President, President, and in many other capacities through the years. Virginia enjoyed volunteering with many organizations, cooking and baking especially for her family and hosted many family gatherings. She always enjoyed helping others and often giving of her time and talents.
She is survived by her sons, Daryl Patrick, of McPherson, Kansas and Dale Patrick and wife Erin, of McPherson, Kansas; her siblings, Eugene E. Peterson and wife Mary, of Lindsborg, Kansas, Bobby E. Peterson, of Lindsborg, Kansas, James R. Peterson and wife Bernice, of Lindsborg, Kansas, and Carol A. Peterson, of McPherson, Kansas; her four favorite grandchildren, Addysen Patrick, Ashtyn Patrick, Jaxyn Patrick, and Jensyn Patrick; other relatives and a host of friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pearl Peterson; her husband Arlen; brothers, Leland A., Delbert F., and Leon H. Peterson; sister, Leora P. Peterson, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Peterson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson. Please wear your mask.
Graveside service at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22nd, with Reverend Chris Deines officiating. Please wear your mask.
