Ten-digit dialing is expanding in Kansas.

Starting April 24th, callers will be encouraged to start using 10-digit dialing when calling numbers in the 785 and 620 area codes. Any phone calls dialed with seven digits will still go through, but 10-digit dialing will be required beginning October 24th.

Officials say the change will make it easier for people to contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
