Barry Allen Nelson, 73, passed away July 18, 2021. He was born on March 29, 2021. He was born on March 29, 1948 in Salina, KS to Keith and Flo Nelson. He graduated from Salina High School (Central) in 1966. On June 18, 1967 he married Lola Turner.
Barry was a service attendant at the Shell Gas Station, owned and operated by his father (Keith), for 18 years. Barry also spent 23 years as a Wastewater Services Operator for the City of Salina (KS).
He is survived by his mother, Helen Flo; his wife, Lola; and his three sons, Sheldon Nelson (Lucinda), Roy Nelson (April), and James Nelson (Angela). Barry had four grandchildren, Wes Nelson, Christianna (Christi) Nelson, Destiny (Kai) Nelson, and Eliza Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith, and his brother, Dale. Faith was very important to Barry.
He was a member of the First Church of God for 56 years. He was the head usher for many years and was a huge supporter of Youth Programs within the church. He was a honorary grandfather to many of the church youth. He loved to help others, had a contagious laugh, and a smile that could light up the room. A
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the First Church of God, with Pastor Willard Ashcraft as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Bennington Cemetery, Bennington.
