Ruth J. Strecker, 83, Salina, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. She was born January 18, 1938, in Topeka to Jacob and Amelia (Schiffelbein) Rohr.
Ruth was a homemaker prior to working for Western Auto as a bin filler for 25 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She volunteered for several charities and organizations after retirement. Some of those included Sacred Heart High School, St. Mary’s Grade School, Sunflower Adult Day Care, and Emergency Aid Food Bank. She also spent many hours making over 30,000 rosaries that benefited people around the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 53 years, Carl; brother, Jake; sister, Marilyn; granddaughter, Taylor; and son-in-law, Brian Pickering. She was a devout wife, loving mother and awesome grandma and great grandma. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two sons, Steve and wife Jolan of Pratt, and Greg and wife Laura of Hutchinson; two daughters, Cheryl Pickering, and Laurie Doll and husband Barry, both of Salina; eight grandchildren, Nicole Crouch (Justin), Jake Strecker (Rachel), Bryce and Maddy Strecker, Hannah, Maggie, Luke and Kelsey Doll; two great grandchildren, Aniston and Jackson Crouch; three step grandchildren, Curtis and Ben Pickering and April Saskowski; and seven great step grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with a vigil service at 7.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, with burial at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina.
Memorials are to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Sacred Heart Jr/Sr High School, in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
