Larry V Zamrzla passed away September 3, 2021, at his son’s home in Wichita. Larry was born July 30, 1939, in Salina to Anthony and Edith (Pihl) Zamrzla. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1957 where he played basketball for his father’s teams. Larry joined the U.S. Army Reserves in 1961, 425th Transportation Unit and was honorably discharged September 1967. Larry worked for the KS Dept of Transportation for 37 years, retiring in 2004. He loved to garden, work on cars and spoil his beloved dogs. Larry was always good-natured and loved a good joke.
Larry was preceded in death by parents Anthony and Edith Zamrzla. Wife of almost 52 years, Shirley. A brother Bruce Zamrzla, a nephew Brett Zamrzla, a niece Gayla Amend and a son Tim Young.
He is survived by his sister Virginia Clapp; sisters-in-law Jeanette Zamrzla and Sally Jarrett, daughter Tere (Lynn) Witters, sons Tony Zamrzla, John (Debra) Young, and Jeff Zamrzla, as well as many grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., October 8, 2021, at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina where his ashes will be interred along with his wife’s and stepson’s.
