An early morning car fire is under investigation.

Police report that a neighbor awakened 30-year-old Nathan Maddox, around 1:15am Wednesday, to tell him that a car parked in back of his property was on fire.

Fire crews responded to the 100 block of E. Beloit and found Maddox spraying his 1989 Chevy Celebrity with a hose.

Police say the fire melted the vehicle’s tail lights, luggage rack and damaged the contents of the trunk.

Damage estimates are still be processed as police investigate the incident as suspected arson.
