Betty Ann Coburn, 86, of Mentor, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021. She was born June 27, 1935 in Salina, to August and Luise (Sterling) Laas. She attended Bavaria High School and Marymount College, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She was married to Harold Jensen from 1955 to 1967, until he passed away. She married William “Bud” Coburn in 1976 until his death in 2014. Betty worked as a social worker for many years for the State of Kansas. She loved her work with children. She enjoyed quilting and growing flowers. She touched the lives and hearts of many people.
Survivors include her children, Michael Jensen, Teresa Swisher (John) and Danette Toone; one sister, Ethel Diehl; grandchildren, Brooke Swisher, Uriah Swisher, Madison Sanderford, Morgan Toone, Joshua Jensen, Jessie Jensen, Jaley Jensen, and Justin Jensen; and great grandchildren, Raegan Kee, Ethan Sanderford, Dylan Sanderford, Rustin Swisher, Brody Swisher, and Quinley Swisher; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, siblings, Walter Laas, Otto Laas, Dorothy Richards, Elmer Laas and Rudolph Laas and son-in-law, John Toone.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021 at Ryan Mortuary, with family present from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, at Immanuel Lutheran with burial to follow at 1 p.m. in Bavaria Cemetery.
