Ronald L. Cullins

SALINA – Ronald L. Cullins, 94, died Friday, November 12, 2021. He was born in Wichita on January 8, 1927. In 1934 the family moved to Coldwater where they resided until 1965. Ron graduated from high school there and later attended the University of Houston. He was a WWII Army Veteran and served overseas with the First Armored Division.

He began his long business career with Continental Airlines in 1948 as a passenger service agent in Wichita and later El Paso. He held field management positions at Tulsa and Houston and was regional manager of Reservation Sales in Denver. He retired in 1983 as head of Continental’s Reservations Planning Department at the company corporate headquarters in Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles he served as an appointed member of the Supervisory Committee for Continental Federal Credit Union at their executive offices in El Segundo, CA. In 1984 he relocated to Albuquerque, NM where he resided until moving to Salina in 2002.

Survivors include a son, Larry and wife Deanna of Salina; daughter, Jennifer McQuirk and husband Steve of Edmond, OK; five grandchildren, Bryce and wife Skylar, Trey, and Lauren Cullins, Evan and Molly McQuirk, and one great-grandchild, Jennings.

Ronald was preceded in death by an infant son, Tracy Lee; parents, Lyman Tracy and Vogel D. (Maddux) Cullins; brother, L.T. Cullins Jr.; two sisters, Maxine Cullins and Norma Kallenberger; grandparents, Frank and Luela Cullins of Maize and Edward and Amanda Maddux of Wichita; and great-grandparents, Col. John Edward Maddux, a pioneer of Wichita.

Private funeral services will be held at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
