Colletta Mae (Resley) Johnson, 92, passed away on December 14, 2021 in Salina, Kansas. She was born on March 8, 1929 in Russell, Kansas to Raymond and Clara (Banworth) Resley.
She married Adley E. Johnson in 1950 and settled in rural Salina. She began her career working as a secretary at the Schilling Air Force Base in Salina.
She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha for 70 years, originally joining the Russell chapter. After relocating to Salina, she joined the Salina chapter of Alpha Beta. She enjoyed her friendships and volunteering through her association with the sisters of Alpha Beta. She received her 70-year pin in 2019.
When her children were small, Colletta served as a 4-H leader in the community and assisted with teaching and volunteering for many years.
As an avid gardener, Colletta completed the Master Gardener certification and volunteered throughout the Saline County area. She was passionate about water gardening and maintained several water gardens around her home. She participated in the Saline County water garden tours and assisted with their organization.
Colletta owned and operated The Loft, a women’s clothing store in downtown Salina for 20 years. During that time, she also owned The Shoe Loft and The Quilting Bee. She loved sharing her passion for clothing and fashion with the community and helping others to look as stylish as she did.
After retirement, Colletta enjoyed traveling with her husband to various countries and learning about different cultures through his association with DOCA. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Colletta was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Clara (Banworth) Resley; brothers, Mars Resley, John Resley, and Walt Resley; sister, Janice (Resley) Johnson; and husband, Adley E. Johnson (2010).
She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie McGovern (Bruce) of Dallas, Texas and Leslie Givens (Kyle) of Salina and six grandchildren, Chandler and Samuel McGovern and Taylor, Aubrey, Logan, and Madison Givens.
A private family service will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
