Samuel “Sam” Arthur Henry, 74, of Concordia passed peacefully at home in the care of family on Thursday, December 23rd in Salina, Kansas.
Sam was born January 4,1947 in Belleville, the youngest child of Edna and Elbert Henry, both of whom preceded him in death.
Sam graduated from Concordia High School in 1965 and earned a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1974.
While attending KU, he met the love of his life, Barbara Waller, to whom he was married to for 49 years.
Sam and Elbert started a machine shop, Henry Enterprises Inc, in Concordia in 1979. He owned and operated the family business until its closure in 2017.
Sam was as an avid motocross racer, guitar player, and basketball enthusiast. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and masterful problem solving.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Waller Henry; sons, Bradley Henry and Charles Henry (Anna Michener); sister, Sara Jane Henry VanHorn; and brother, George Michael Henry.
Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of Sam’s life will be held in Cloud County this spring and will be announced at a later date.
