SALINA – Janet K. Williamson, 73, passed away on February 18, 2022 at her home in Salina, Kansas, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born October 29, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas to Charles R. and Lila M. Shepard. She grew up on the family farm in Carbondale, Kansas. She graduated from Carbondale High School in 1966 and attended Emporia State University.
In 1970, she married Tom A. Williamson and to this union two children were born, Scott and Laura. She worked for USD 305 for a number of years and before she retired, she was the Athletic Secretary at Salina South High School. She loved to sew and quilt and to take road trips with her sewing pals to fabric and sewing stores throughout Kansas. She enjoyed visiting the national parks and seeing the great outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Tom; son Scott Williamson of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter Laura (Joe) Hodgson of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Cole and Kaci Hodgson; and sister Karen (Dennis) Long of Carbondale, Kansas.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary. It was Janet’s wish to be cremated. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
