SALINA – Donovan Leroy Shaw, 81, born November 1, 1940 in Joplin, Missouri, passed away March 30, 2022 in his Salina home.
Donovan is survived by a brother, Dean Shaw of Washington, five sons, William and his three children; Teymoor, his wife Tamara and their five children; Michael, his wife Ashlee and their six children; Donnie and his son; and Jerry, and his three children; for a total of 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah; son Buddy Lee; daughter, Donna Louisa and daughter-in-law, Lana.
Don Shaw was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a horseman, a true cowboy, who drove cattle from Texas to Kansas on horseback. Also, an excellent artist with paint and ink, and master carpenter. When he was a young man he was a semi-pro baseball player and skilled at tennis, pool and golf. He was an animal lover who enjoyed telling stories about his horses, dogs and cat. Don loved fishing and hunting and was an excellent marksman. When asked, he said that his favorite places to be were on the back of his favorite horse, Big Red, and in his workshop woodworking.
Don will be remembered as a loving, strong and kind man. He was soft spoken but of strong mind. He loved order and peace and spending time with his family.
A private family memorial service will take place.
