Police have arrested the owner of a Wichita home day care where a toddler’s leg was partially severed by a lawn mower.
The 39-year-old woman was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of one count of aggravated endangering a child. It’s unclear if she has been formally charged.
Police say the 18-month-old girl was injured Thursday morning and the owner was arrested a few hours later. They say five children were playing in the backyard as the woman used a push mower.
It’s unclear how the girl was hit with the mower. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition. An update on the child’s condition hadn’t been updated early Friday.
The state has issued an emergency license suspension for the day care.
