A Salina man was arrested on child abuse charges after an infant was treated at the hospital for burns on his legs.
Officers arrested 27-year-old Michael C. Bryant on Wednesday after staff at Salina Regional Health Center reported possible child abuse to police.
Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that Bryant was allegedly caring for the infant in a south Salina home and called some friends to come over – the friends arrived and were concerned about the baby and took the male infant to the hospital.
Doctors recommended the boy be transferred to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita with 2nd degree burns.
Bryant was taken into custody a short time later on charges of child abuse; for inhuman corporal punishment of a child.
