The Andover Central Jaguar soccer team won the 2023 Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League II championship with an undefeated 6-0 league mark.
The Jaguars finished off that feat this past week when they defeated Arkansas City 10-0 Tuesday for their 5th AVCTL II victory and wrapped up the crown Thursday by defeating Goddard 5-1.
The Goddard High School football team won the battle of Goddard Friday night, which also makes them the 2023 AVCTL II football champions.
The Lions defeated fellow Goddard high school, Eisenhower, 22-14, which was the first loss for Eisenhower.
The two teams finished the 2023 regular season with identical 7-1, 5-1 records and the Lions win the tie-breaker via the head-to-head victory.

ANDOVER
Lady Trojan golfer Regan Dusenberry fired a 2-day total of 144 to tie for the Class 5A individual golf championship Monday and Tuesday. …
The Trojan football team dropped its 8th straight contest Friday night, falling 34-8 against Hutchinson and closed the 2023 regular season without a win, finishing 0-8 on the regular season. The Trojans will begin postseason play this Friday night when they play AVCTL II rival Eisenhower. The Lady Trojan volleyball team conclude the 2023 regular season Tuesday night with a 27-9 record when they traveled to Newton for a non-conference triangular and split the two matches. The Lady Trojans defeated Campus 2-1, but lost against Newton 2-1. The Lady Trojans qualified for the Class 5A state tournament with a 29-9 record. The Trojans earned that feat Saturday by defeating Hays 2-0 in the opening round of sub-state play and winning the championship match 2-1 against Great Bend. … The Trojan soccer team scored its 4th win of the season Tuesday afternoon when it needed overtime, but defeated Eisenhower 2-1. The Trojans closed out the regular season Thursday by falling 5-4 in overtime against Salina South. The Trojans will open Class 5A regional play Tuesday against Newton.
ANDOVER CENTRAL
The Jaguar football team completed the 2023 regular season Friday night with a 35-23 victory against Valley Center. The Jaguars will take a 5-3 record into their Class 4A opening round playoff game against Independence Friday night. … The Lady Jaguar volleyball team completed its 2023 regular season Tuesday night with a 33-1 overall record as they hosted Derby and Arkansas City in a non-conference triangular and swept the two matches, defeating Derby 2-0 and Arkansas City by the same 2-0 count. The Lady Jaguars qualified for the Class 5A state volleyball tournament this weekend as they won the Class 5A sub-state tournament this past weekend. The Lady Jaguars opened sub-state play with a 2-0 victory against Arkansas City and won the championship match 2-0 against Bishop Carroll. … The Jaguar soccer team improved to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in AVCTL II play Tuesday with a 10-0 victory against Arkansas City. The Jaguars wrapped up the AVCTL II soccer championship Thursday with a 5-1 victory against Goddard to finish AVCTL II play with an unblemished 6-0 record. The Jaguars will open Class 5A regional play Tuesday against Valley Center.
ARKANSAS CITY
The Bulldog football team lost 70-27 Friday night against Salina Central to close out the 2023 regular season. The Bulldogs will face Abilene in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs Friday night. … The Lady Bulldog volleyball team completed the 2023 regular season Tuesday night at a non-conference triangular at Andover Central and lost both matches. The Lady Bulldogs fell 2-0 against Andover Central and also 2-0 against Derby. The Lady Bulldogs had their season end Saturday after a 2-0 loss against Andover Central in the opening round of sub-state play. The Lady Bulldogs finished the season with a 10-24 record. … The Bulldog soccer team traveled to Andover Central Tuesday and were unable to score a goal as they fell 10-0. The Bulldogs will face Maize South Tuesday in the opening round of Class 5A regional play.
EISENHOWER
The Tiger football team suffered its first loss of the season Friday night, falling 20-14 against Goddard. The Tigers will open Class 4A postseason action Friday night when they play host to Andover. … The Lady Tiger volleyball team traveled to Salina Central Tuesday night for a single AVCTL II match to close the regular season and the Lady Tigers swept the best of 5 match, winning 3-0. The Lady Tigers finished the 2023 season with an 18-16 record after falling in the opening round of sub-state play 2-1 against Topeka Seaman Saturday. …. The Tiger soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss in overtime against Andover Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers secured their 8th win of the regular season Thursday with a 1-0 victory against Valley Center. The victory propelled Eisenhower to a .500 regular season overall record at 8-8. The Tigers will open Class 5A regional play Tuesday against Kapaun Mt. Carmel.
GODDARD
The Lion football team defeated Eisenhower Friday 20-14 to win the battle of Goddard and also claim the AVCTL II football title. The Lions will face Maize in the opening round of the Class 6A playoffs Friday night. … The Lady Lion volleyball team did not qualify for the postseason after finishing the 2023 regular season with a 4-23 record. … The Lion soccer team scored its 7th victory of the season Tuesday with a 6-1 victory against Salina Central, but wrapped up the 2023 regular season Thursday by falling to AVCTL II soccer champion Andover Central 5-1. The Lions will open Class 5A regional play Tuesday against Hays.
SALINA CENTRAL
The Mustang football team scored their 6th victory Friday night with a 70-27 victory against Arkansas City to close the regular season with a 6-2 record. The Mustangs will open Class 5A playoff action this Friday night when they play host to Great Bend in the opening round. … The Lady Mustang volleyball closed out the 2023 regular season Tuesday night by playing host to Eisenhower in a single best of 5 match and lost all three games to fall 3-0. The Lady Mustangs saw their 2023 season come to an end Saturday after a 13-20 campaign. The Lady Mustangs saw their season end Saturday after a 2-0 defeat against Great Bend in the opening round of sub-state play. … The Mustang soccer team suffered its 11th straight loss Tuesday when it fell 6-1 against Goddard but closed out the 2023 regular season Thursday by snapping that losing streak as the Mustangs defeated Arkansas City 5-2. The Mustangs finished 2023 with a 2-14 record and did not qualify for the post season.
VALLEY CENTER
The Hornet football team closed out the regular season Friday night falling 35-13 against Andover Central. The Hornets finished the regular season with a 5-3 record and will play at Hays in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs this Friday night. … The Lady Hornet volleyball team saw their season come to an end Saturday when they won their opening round of the sub-state tournament 2-0 against Topeka West, but lost 2-0 against Maize South in the championship match. … The Hornet soccer team closed out the 2023 regular season Thursday suffering its 8th loss of the season, falling 1-0 against Eisenhower. The Hornets will open Class 5A regional play Tuesday against Andover Central.
