Bowling Big for Littles

It was a record setting day in Salina as 134 teams gathered to knock down some pins and raise money for children who need a mentor.

Bowlers at All Star Lanes Saturday, had some all-star results for area kids raising a record $112,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina.

“We are very fortunate to live in a community that always goes above and beyond,” said Michelle Peck, CEO of BBBS of Salina.

“The passion this team has for kids and matching mentors is making a difference in Salina County, and the community is seeing that investment and giving back.”

Peck added their next BBBS community event is April 30th – a two part race to raise money.

“The Glow and Snow Run 5K Series is a two part event in April and and again this Fall,” she said.

Peck says participants who finish the race at Oakdale this spring will receive half a medal – with the second half awarded after they hoof their way over the finish line this Fall in the Frosty 5K Run.

According to Peck, at least 70 area children are still in need of adult mentors or Bigs. Those wishing to learn more about becoming a ‘Big’ for a ‘Little’ in Saline County, go to www.bbbssalina.org, or call 785-825-5509.
