Chase Suspect Runs Through School

A high speed chase came to an end after the suspect ran into a northwest Kansas high school.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers tried to stop a car on eastbound Interstate 70 in Thomas County Monday morning when the driver sped away at speeds reaching 135 miles per hour. Law enforcement in Gove County were able to flatten one of the suspect’s tires with stop sticks causing the vehicle to crash into a fence.

The suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Jeron Thibeaux of Kansas City, Missouri, then ran into, and through, Wheatland High School. The school was in lockdown, but Thibeaux was able to gain entry through a kitchen door that was not locked.

He was captured a short time later along, Kansas Highway 23, just west of the school.
