Authorities responded to a chemical spill Tuesday evening at the Biosecurity Research Institute on the campus of Kansas State University in Manhattan.
According to the school, the Manhattan Fire Department responded at 5:31 p.m. Oct. 25, for a chemical spill at the Biosecurity Research Institute, housed in Pat Roberts Hall.
The spill was determined to be contained in the room where it occurred as designed, and no injuries were reported. Manhattan Fire Department personnel left the scene at 6:05 p.m. Kansas State University staff continue clean up and will investigate to determine cause of the spill.
The Biosecurity Research Institute supports comprehensive “farm-to-fork” infectious disease research programs that address threats to plant, animal, and human health. It houses 113,000 square feet of lab, education, and administrative space.
