Family, friends, and brothers and sisters in arms are mourning the death of retired sheriff and part-time deputy Doug Whitson.

Local authorities announced that Whitson died this week due to complications associated with COVID-19. He was 69.

Officials say Whitson served with the Goodland Police Department from 2006 to 2011.
