Colyer Bans the Box

Kansas officials are helping people with past convictions to more easily find a job.

Governor Jeff Colyer signed an executive order yesterday to “ban the box.” The measure prevents state agencies from requiring people seeking jobs to mark a box on their applications which asks if they have ever been found guilty of a crime.

State agencies will still be able to ask applicants about their criminal history during the interview process.
